"ST MARY-ON-THE-QUAY is central to the history of the Catholic Church in Bristol. It is fascinating to look back over this period and to see how St Mary's takes us back to the time before the Diocese of Clifton came into being ... A book like this is an excellent way of celebrating 150 years in the history of St Mary's. It is a way of paying tribute to those who played a special part in the life and work of the parish whilst not forgetting the many thousands for whom this church was their spiritual home" (Mervyn Alexander, former bishop of Clifton).
* Kenneth Hankins is an English graduate of Bristol university. He was deputy headmaster of Ilfracombe Grammar School and later of Ilfracombe School and Community College.
